Alabama football got not only a gifted player but also a young man with a grounded perspective in offensive lineman, Amari Kight.
Alabama football fans are going to enjoy getting to know Amari Kight. Not only is Kight an athletically gifted football player, he is also a youngster with established ambitions to make his mark, on and off the football field. One of his personal traits is being quiet. His high school coach, Mark Freeman says,
He’s a wonderful guy. Amari doesn’t say but about 100 words a day. He’s quiet. You never have to get on to him.
What Amari does say shows a young man grounded in solid principles.
In his own words, his priorities are,
First, God, then my parents and family, then my coaches and teammates. That’s what’s important to me.
I don’t want to just be known for the player I am on the field. I want to be known for the person I am or am trying to be off it.
It is easy for top recruits to become distracted and place too much emphasis on just football. Those making that mistake rarely reach their full potential. Every indication is Amari Kight will never have that problem. He also quickly credits his parents and grandparents for guiding him to his solid foundation.
On the field, he has been described by his coaches as a tight end in a tackle’s body. At six-feet-seven and 315 pounds, he has plenty of frame to add good weight.
Kirby Smart made Amari a priority for the Georgia Bulldogs. Auburn was also near the top of Amari’s list. Other top schools making offers were LSU, Michigan, Florida, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Oregon, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Mississippi State, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.
It did not hurt the cause of the Alabama Crimson Tide that Kight was a high school teammate of Taulia Tagovailoa.
