Alabama DB Saivion Smith turning pro

Another Alabama player is off to the NFL.

Cornerback Saivion Smith has decided to enter the NFL draft.

Smith, who joined the Crimson Tide as a junior college transfer last year, started 12 games as a junior for Alabama this season.

Smith started the Tide’s first three games, lost his starting job during the team’s Week 3 game against Ole Miss, moved back into the starting lineup in Week 7 after Alabama lost Trevon Diggs to a season-ending injury and ended up finishing the year with 60 tackles and three interceptions.

He is the fifth Tide player to declare for the NFL draft, joining Quinnen Williams, Jonah Williams, Josh Jacobs and Irv Smith.

Linebacker Mack Wilson and safety Deionte Thompson hadn’t made final decisions on whether to turn pro or not as of early Saturday afternoon.
