Alabama No. 1 in recruiting ranking after early signing

As the early signing day winds down, the class rankings are starting to take shape.

And after Alabama finished No. 5 in last season’s cycle, the Crimson Tide is back on top.

Nick Saban and his staff holds a wide lead in the 247Sports composite ranking of the 2019 signing class. Alabama has 312.24 points in the ranking scale compared to No. 2 Georgia’s 297.87.

The SEC West also has No. 3 and No. 4 with Texas A&M and LSU followed by Oregon.

Alabama announced the signing of 22 players Wednesday evening. The only commitment made on signing day that wasn’t confirmed as a signing by the school was five-star running back Trey Sanders. His IMG Academy teammate, five-star offensive lineman Evan Neal, was part of the announced class at 4 p.m. CT.

Update: Sanders’ signing was confirmed by Alabama just after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Saban said there’s still more work to be done by the second signing day and the large numbers signed Wednesday didn’t signify the end of the 2019 process.
