The Alabama Crimson Tide were struck with unfortunate news on Friday night, as defensive lineman LaBryan Ray was arrested for public intoxication.
Although the full details of his arrest aren’t available yet, Ray was officially booked by the Tuscaloosa Police Department.
Ray showed signs of improvement in his sophomore season, despite having to be a backup to stars like Quinnen Williams. The former five-star recruit finished with 2.5 sacks and 39 total tackles.
After appearing in all 15 games for Alabama this season, it was only inevitable that his snaps on defense would increase for the following season. However, the news of his arrest could complicate matters for the Crimson Tide.

Nick Saban has released a statement about Ray’s arrest, as the legendary coach was disappointed to hear the news.
It appears any possible suspension or form of discipline will not be decided in the immediate future.
Nick Saban’s statement on LaBryan Ray’s public intoxication arrest:
“We are disappointed any time a player makes a choice that leads to a bad decision. We will evaluate what we need to do in terms of appropriate discipline and rehabilitation as we move forward.”

It’s already been a rough week for the Crimson Tide, as the team still recovers from its loss to the Clemson Tigers.
Hopefully Ray receives the proper assistance and rehab to avoid making questionable decisions of this magnitude in the future.
