Alabama native Don Thiggpen may have retired to Hawaii, but it hasn’t stopped him from gathering with friends and cheering for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide football team.
The group meets at an Embassy Suites hotel to watch Alabama games.
“Some are Alabama natives, others are Alabama alumni, and others are just ‘Bama fans,” he said in an email to the TimesDaily. “We even have some of Tua’s relatives, aunts, uncles, cousins join us for the games.”
The group had 67 people watch the Tide play Louisiana State University, and 73 who watched the 2017 National Championship game.
Thigpen said this year his daughter made a large birthday card and sent it to Head Coach Nick Saban.
“We got a box of items from the coach and a thank you card,” he said.
