Good evening Bucknuts subscribers! There is plenty going on with Ohio State football recruiting so let’s get started! I will of course have plenty more throughout the night and tomorrow.
1) Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has said he is going to put plenty of emphasis on recruiting the state of Ohio. Day has backed up those words by stopping at a number of Ohio high schools on Friday, the first day of the end of the dead period, and then again on Monday. Day’s stops were in the southern part of the Buckeye State, but the other end of the state hasn’t been neglected. On Friday assistant coach Tony Alford was in the Akron area and stopped to see 2021 offensive tackle Ben Christman from Richfield (Ohio) Revere.
“He talked to my coach and said some nice things about me,” Christman said. “Potentially I’m going to go to their spring game. And they have a junior day on Saturday. They said to come join them and meet the new coaches. We’re working on the details to possibly go.”
The 6-foot-6 and 299-pound Christman is currently ranked as a 3-star prospect in the 247Sport recruiting rankings. He is the country’s No. 103 overall prospect, the No. 14 offensive tackle, and the No. 7 prospect in Ohio. Christman currently has early scholarship offers from Pitt, Cincinnati and Toledo.
There is no doubt about Christman being interested in Ohio State.
“Everyone in my family – we watch the Buckeyes,” Christman said. “To start the recruiting process with them in an honor. They are an elite program.”
Christman had 30 plus pancake blocks his freshman year and 60 plus his sophomore year.
Christman was a varsity starter at left-guard his freshman year and then moved to left-tackle his sophomore season.
