Well, here’s something you don’t see every day.
College football analyst and former Florida State quarterback Danny Kanell had nothing but glowing reviews of an Alabama football-related topic.
Yep, color Alabama Nation shocked.
Kanell, who has been perceived as anti-SEC almost as much as anti-Alabama, took to Twitter to talk about the play of Tua Tagovailoa. The quarterback leads Nick Saban’s No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide into Baton Rouge on Saturday night against No. 3 LSU.
Kanell pointed Tagovailoa’s 25 touchdown passes vs. not a single interception.
“There are guys that wouldn’t be able to do that if it was 7 on 7 flag football. And Tua is taking shots downfield. Truly remarkable play.”
He isn’t the first to compliment Tua or the Tide as of late.
New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees, who just happens to be the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards, said this week how impressed he was with the sophomore in Tuscaloosa.
Even Stephen A. Smith – yes, that one – heaped nothing but praise on Alabama this week.
Still, the positive slant on any comment from Kanell may surprise a lot of Alabama fans.
In May, he challenged Nick Saban’s comments about the must-talked about UCF team. He went further to say Alabama was “gifted” a CFP spot last season.
Kanell also talked about how bad it was for college football last year with an all-SEC CFP national championship.
In the end, though, Kanell has always talked about the passion of Alabama fans as a good thing, even if Alabama fans don’t view him in the same light.
