How Alabama compares to Auburn

The weekly tour of Alabama stats will take on an Iron Bowl flavor this Sunday. Now that FCS week is over, it’s time to move on to this timeless rivalry.

Alabama (11-0) is coming off a challenging 50-17 win over the Citadel in which its run defense slipped 10 spots in the national ranking courtesy of the Bulldogs’ 285 yards Saturday.

Still, the Crimson Tide is ahead of Auburn in all of the statistical categories we’ve tracked in this weekly feature all season. In terms of offense, Alabama has the No. 3-ranked group compared to Auburn at No. 85. Total defense is closer with Alabama seventh and Auburn 36th.

The Tide improved in passing defense rankings after The Citadel tied for the fewest pass attempts by an Alabama opponent in program history. The 0-for-2 day pushed Alabama to No. 10 nationally from 23rd.

The competition changes dramatically at 2:30 p.m. CT in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Here’s the breakdown between Alabama and Auburn with Tide individuals at the bottom.
