How Alabama compares to Tennessee, where Tua Tagovailoa’s stats rank

Alabama had trouble punching it in a few times Saturday night, yet it closed Week 7 with the nation’s top offense.

The Crimson Tide (7-0, 4-0) is now No. 1 in total offense (567.0 yards a game) and scoring offense (53.6 yards per game) after beating Missouri, 39-10.

That leads into Saturday’s trip to Tennessee. The Vols are coming off an emotional win at Auburn, but at least statistically, this will remain a big mismatch in Neyland Stadium.

The Vols (3-3, 1-2 SEC) have the No. 97 total offense and No. 47 total defense with a negative turnover margin that’s average at best in practically all major statistical categories. A No. 42 passing defense will be among the better groups Tua Tagovailoa’s faced after Missouri entered Saturday at No. 117.

Tagovailoa remained the national leader in QB rating and yards per attempt after an injury-shorted win over Missouri. The full rundown of the stats entering Week 8:
