How other Playoff contenders stack up against Alabama and an early look at Week 7 lines – The Athletic

At the conclusion of Week 1, we wrote about how Notre Dame was a serious contender for the College Football Playoff. Through Week 6, there may be only a dozen teams with a realistic chance to make the semifinals, and the Irish remain one of those teams with a current number of 8-1 to win the national title. Oddsmakers have all but removed the Big 12 and Pac-12 from the championship mix as no team from either conference is better than 30-1 to win it all.

Per Sunday’s odds at the Westgate Superbook in Las Vegas, Alabama leads the list of contenders at -225. The Crimson Tide will be favored by double digits in every regular-season game from here on out, with their stiffest test coming in Baton Rouge on Nov. 3 against LSU. If that game were played today, the Crimson Tide would be 14.5-point favorites at Tiger Stadium.
