Live game updates: SEC Championship Game

ATLANTA — No. 1 Alabama will face No. 4 Georgia in the SEC Championship Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Crimson Tide and Bulldogs will square off at 3 p.m. CT on CBS.

— Alabama wins the toss and elects to defer to the second half. Georgia will receive the opening kickoff. 

— Quinnen Williams sacks Jake Fromm, forcing UGA to punt.

— Jaylen Waddle returns the punt 36 yards to the Georgia 29. 

— Tua Tagovailoa can’t find an open receiver and is sacked for an 11-yard loss. It’ll be 3rd and Goal for Alabama at the UGA 17. 

— Tua Tagovailoa is picked near the goal line by Richard LeCounte. 

— After the INT, Tua Tagovailoa goes into the medical tent. 

— Per the CBS broadcast, Tua Tagovailoa had his ankle taped while in the medical tent. 

— Irv Smith Jr. dropped a deep ball from Tua. He was wide open. Alabama will punt.

Georgia 7, Alabama 0 (3:08)

— Tua to Henry Ruggs III for a 23-yard gain across midfield. Deandre Baker is down on the field for Georgia. 

— Najee Harris up to middle for a 17-yard gain to the Georgia 29. 

— Josh Jacobs carries it 13 yards down to the Georgia 1-yard line.

— On Alabama’s first play of the drive, Josh Jacobs breaks free for a 59-yard gain down to the Georgia 16.

— Timeout, Alabama. The Tide has one remaining with 1:22 left in the first half. Next play will be 3rd and 8 for Georgia.

— Swift can’t pick up the first, so Georgia will punt from its own 14-yard line with 1:11 left in 1H.

— Alabama runs into the punter. Penalty results in a first down for Georgia.
