Media reacts to first half of Alabama-Tennessee game

The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide football team traveled to Knoxville on Saturday for its annual matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers. Alabama entered the game with 11 consecutive wins in the series, which is played yearly on “The Third Saturday In October.”

The battle pitted first-year Tennessee Vols head coach Jeremy Pruitt in a matchup with his former boss, Alabama coach Nick Saban. Pruitt spent the past two seasons as the Crimson Tide defensive coordinator before accepting an offer to be the Tennessee coach during the offseason.

“Tennessee is playing the best football they’ve played all season, Saban said earlier this week. They’re playing hard, they’re executing well, the players look like they have a lot of confidence so it’s going to be important that we go there and play our very best game.”

Saban came into the day 13-0 in games against his former assistants, and it looks like that record will improve again after the first two quarters on Saturday. Alabama went into halftime up 42-14.
