Alabama Crimson Tide

Vegas point spread for fictional matchup

As the Broncos return to work this week, mired in a two-game skid and losses in six of their past seven games, could they really beat an undefeated team? Yes, of course they could. What if it was on a neutral field? Yes. So, who’s this opponent? Alabama. The 10-0 Crimson Tide. College football’s cream of the crop. Stay with me here.

It’s an age-old hypothetical question: Could the best college football team (Alabama’s not just the “best,” they’re by far the best this season) beat the “worst” NFL team? Now, the Broncos aren’t quite in that category, but at 3-6 overall they’re close enough for the purposes of this article.

The good folks at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook took this never-gonna-happen matchup a step further: Alabama likely couldn’t beat a professional football team… but, could they cover a point spread? Now we’re talking.

Westgate bookmaker Jeff Sherman tweeted on Nov. 8 a hypothetical spread for a Buffalo Bills vs. Alabama game, which got the ball rolling on what the spreads would be for Alabama vs. every NFL team.

Broncos vs. Alabama

Spread: Broncos -39.5

Fake prop: Over/under 1.5 times John Elway offers Nick Saban the Broncos’ head coaching job before the game.
